Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Pharmacy Support Worker (Primary Care) to assist pharmacists and technicians in delivering safe and effective medicines use. The role involves handling referrals, coordinating serial prescriptions, and liaising with patients by phone under SOPs.

This fixed-term post supports quality medication reviews, data collection, and information sharing within the pharmacy team, with a focus on patient care and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare settings and dealing with the public is required.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
• Good knowledge of medicines and safety practices in primary care.
• Ability to work independently within standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive referrals for medication reviews or serial prescriptions.
• Be aware of stock supply issues and communicate them appropriately.
• Act as a point of contact for the pharmacy team to triage information.
• Facilitate setup of serial prescriptions and allied technology services.
• Set medication review dates and populate pharmacist clinics.
• Review prescription requests and triage medication issues.
• Collect and collate patient-related prescribing data from practice records.
