Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is recruiting for a night‑shift warehouse role at the Pharmacy Distribution Centre. You will join 4 nights per week, 20:00–05:30, within a fast-paced, highly automated environment supporting procurement, storage and distribution of medicines across hospitals and clinics.

The role requires numeracy, attention to detail and teamwork, with opportunities for training and SVQ development. A strong focus on safety, quality and patient care underpins all duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three Standard Grades (English and Maths).
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills required.
• Commitment to SVQ qualifications and ongoing training.
• Experience of supervising staff and training others is desirable.
• Experience in healthcare or similar environments preferred.
• Understanding of quality, safety and accuracy in a warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Electronic receipting and processing of medicinal products.
• Maintain accurate stock records and receiving/storing goods.
• Support automated and manual medicine distribution processes.
• Replenish stock across storage conditions and operate warehouse equipment.
• Ensure GDP, FMD, health & safety and SOP compliance.
• Contribute to safeguarding product integrity and patient care across the region.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the night shift warehouse team at the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Pharmacy Distribution Centre (PDC). Working within a fast‑paced, dynamic and highly automated environment, you will play a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient procurement, storage and distribution of medicines and vaccines across hospitals, clinics, community pharmacies and other healthcare settings throughout the region. As part of one of the UK's largest automated hospital pharmacy services, you will contribute to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Working as part of the warehouse team under supervision, you will support the seamless and compliant supply of pharmaceutical products in line with NHSGGC Standing Financial Instructions and departmental procedures. Duties include electronic receipting and processing of medicinal products, maintaining accurate stock records, receiving and storing goods, supporting automated and manual medicine distribution processes, replenishing stock across a range of storage conditions, operating warehouse equipment including pallet trucks, undertaking general housekeeping activities, and ensuring compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP), the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD), health and safety requirements, and local standard operating procedures. You will also contribute to maintaining the integrity and quality of medicinal products throughout the supply chain while delivering a high-quality service that supports patient care across Greater Glasgow and Clyde and beyond.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• General level of education with a minimum of three Standard Grades (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Basic IT skills.
• Commitment to undertaking relevant SVQ qualifications.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
• Experience of training staff.
• Experience of supervising staff.
• Experience of working within a healthcare or similar environment.
• Experience of stock management.
• Understanding of the importance of quality, safety and accuracy in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to work effectively under supervision and follow established procedures.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to organise daily tasks using own initiative.
