Job summary

Practice Plus Group - Health in Justice is recruiting a Pharmacy Support Worker for HMP Leeds, a busy Category B male remand and resettlement prison in Armley. No previous experience required, with extensive training and development opportunities.

Hours are 37.5 per week on a 2 week rolling rota; shifts 7am-4pm on weekdays, 8am-4pm on weekends, and one 7am-9pm shift per fortnight. Salary up to £29,723 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• No previous experience required; training and development opportunities offered.
• NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing would be a bonus but is not essential.
• Keen to pursue a career in Pharmacy and Healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Support onsite Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager and the wider healthcare team.
• Second check medication before dispensing to patients on rounds.
• Carry out medication spot checks in cells.
• Contribute to medicine reconciliation, stock management and transportation of medicines.
• Support safe medicines management following policies and SOPs.
• Work in the medication hatches on the wings.
• Be part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.

Main duties of the job

As our new Pharmacy Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

• Support the onsite Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team
• Second check medication before dispensing to patients on medication rounds
• Carry out medication spot checks in cells
• Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
• Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
• Work in the medication hatches on the wings
• Be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals

• No experience is necessary - we are looking for someone with a keen interest in Pharmacy, and keen to pursue a career in Pharmacy and Healthcare
• An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing would be a bonus, but isn't essential
• Ideally have medicines handling experience, although this isn't essential
• Be a hard worker, diligent, with a high attention to detail
