North Sector | Vale of Leven Hospital
Band 2 Pharmacy Support Worker
Permanent 15 hours per week (salary pro rata for part‑time posts).

Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual to join our small and friendly pharmacy team in delivering clinical pharmacy services to a variety of clinical areas throughout Vale of Leven Hospital and other North Sector Hospital sites. Although based at Vale of Leven Hospital, cross-sector working in any North Sector site may be required. The post holder will contribute to the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and check pharmaceutical deliveries from a variety of sources, interpret delivery notes, and verify order accuracy before receipting onto the Pharmacy Stock Management System.
  • Allocate drugs to the correct wards/departments and prepare orders for collection by portering staff.
  • Stock manage bulk IV fluids and medical gas cylinders; replenish medication used in the hospital emergency cupboard.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, including recording temperatures (ambient and refrigerated), photocopying, scanning and filing.
  • Work as an integral member of the pharmacy team and collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team (nurses, medical staff, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians).
Qualifications and experience
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to organise and prioritise workload.
  • National 4 qualification or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics; willingness to complete an SCQF Level 6 unit as part of development.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy is desirable; full training will be provided.
Working pattern

Shift pattern is Monday – Friday, 11am–2pm, with participation in public holidays and weekend working.
