The Private Pharmacy, an ITH Group company, is looking for a positive and hardworking individual to join our dispensing team. We are a busy online pharmacy dispensing controlled medications daily.

We seek a positive and approachable person with a Level 2 or equivalent Healthcare Assistant and Dispenser qualification to enrich people's lives. An adaptable and flexible attitude, along with a desire to embed newly acquired knowledge and skills, will be key.

  • Provide courteous, confidential, and professional service to all pharmacy customers.
  • Complete an accredited dispenser NVQ 2 training course and any other training required by the company to ensure high customer service standards.
  • Ensure all prescriptions are dispensed accurately and promptly.
  • Carry out dispensary administrative tasks as applicable.
  • Adhere to Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures, policies, Health and Safety regulations, and legal and ethical requirements.
  • Work as part of a team to develop the pharmacy's profitability.

Specific Duties:

Dispensary

  • Ensure prescriptions are labelled, assembled, and forwarded for checking accurately and without delay, following all relevant SOPs.
  • Identify and resolve anomalies or problems with prescriptions.
  • Identify customers/patients correctly and counsel them on their prescribed medications when appropriate.
  • Complete all relevant documentation, including register entries and accurate endorsement of prescriptions.
  • Coordinate the ordering, collection, and delivery of repeat prescriptions, maintaining full records and patient consent.
  • Use NHS Smartcard if applicable; if not, one will be provided.
  • Complete end-of-day/month paperwork timely, including preparing prescriptions for submission to the PPD.
  • Respond politely and efficiently to customer needs, ask appropriate questions, follow SOPs for Sale of Medicines and Supporting Self-care, record advice on PMRs when applicable, and take action if a product is unavailable.
  • Refer customers to other healthcare professionals, including pharmacists, following SOPs, and record details on their PMR.
  • Follow COSHH regulations and handle hazardous goods safely.
  • Handle returned medicines, waste, and spillage appropriately.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices to keep the pharmacy and surroundings tidy.
