Overview
Pharmacy Assistants are vital members of the Pharmacy team who work closely with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. They support colleagues throughout the Trust. Based in Dispensary they are required to work under the supervision of a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist.
Responsibilities
- Support the supply and dispensing of medication to patients across the hospital, including outpatient clinics.
- Use the pharmacy computer system (CMM) and dispensing robot with training provided.
- Spend some time each week on a ward to top up stocks of medication.
- Develop knowledge and skills to become a Band 3 Senior Pharmacy Assistant through training and assessment; a level 2 GPHC approved qualification will be undertaken and, once qualified, you will advance from Band 2 to Band 3. Those already holding a level 2 accredited pharmacy qualification will start at Band 3.
- Work in a fast-paced environment within a supportive team.
- Participate in shift patterns including early starts (08:00) and late finishes (18:00); full-time or part-time hours available, with 1 weekend every 10 weeks and a bank holiday rota (minimum 1 per year). Rotas are subject to change.
- Adhere to safeguarding and confidentiality requirements and comply with DBS and NHS service processes as applicable.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Second you will need to have current UK professional registration where required by the role.
- This post may involve working with children or adults and will require a Criminal Record and Barring Check (DBS).
- Must meet the NHS service requirements and, if applicable, provide information about previous NHS service via ESR IAT.
- If you are new to the staff, you may need to meet the cost of DBS if your salary is not at or above the stated threshold.

- Staff parking is available onsite with limited spaces during core hours; spaces are available in evenings and weekends.
- The NNUH is served by public buses with discounted passes; Costessey Park and Ride and Thickthorn P&R services are free for NHS staff; other travel options include Konect and airport P&R bundles.
- Bicycle racks, a salary sacrifice scheme, and a on-site Beryl station are available; discuss travel and parking arrangements at interview if you work at another Trust site.
