Job summary

Healthxchange Pharmacy in Reading is seeking a reliable Pharmacy Assistant to support the storage, handling and distribution of aesthetic and pharmaceutical products. The role focuses on accuracy, compliance with SOPs and safe handling of goods within a busy pharmacy/warehouse environment.

The successful candidate will have experience in pharmacy or warehouse settings, familiarity with inventory systems, and ideally NVQ2 certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems.
• Monitor expiration dates and rotate stock accordingly.
• Pick and pack orders for delivery to various locations.
• Prepare products for shipment in compliance with regulations.
• Conduct regular quality checks on stored and shipped products.
• Follow SOPs to maintain product integrity and safety.

Pharmacy Assistant
Location: Reading
Reporting to: Pharmacy Manager
Schedule: 42.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm

About the role:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our pharmacy team. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of aesthetic & pharmaceutical products. The ideal candidate should be organised, have a strong attention to detail, and be capable of working in a compliant process driven environment.
Requirements:
Essential:

• Previous experience in a pharmacy or warehouse, or similar role is preferred.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy loads.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Adherence to health and safety guidelines.
• Secondary school examinations or equivalent.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical products and storage requirements is an asset.
• Accuracy Checking Technician or Accuracy Checking for Dispensing Assistants qualification or desire to undertake the qualifications with support from the company.
• NVQ 2 Qualified
• Familiarity with Human Medicines Regulations 2012 and EU GDP Guidelines (2013/C 343/01)

Responsibilities:

• Receiving and Inspecting Deliveries:
• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming product shipments.
• Ensure all items match the accompanying documentation.
• Report any discrepancies or damages to the relevant internal stakeholders.
• Safely and securely store pharmaceutical products in designated areas.
• Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems.
• Monitor expiration dates and ensure proper rotation of stock.
• Accurately pick and pack orders for delivery to various locations.
• Prepare pharmaceutical products for shipment in compliance with regulations.
• Conduct regular quality checks on stored and shipped products.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain product integrity.
• Adhere to all health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials.
• Work closely with other team members to coordinate workflow.
• Communicate effectively with pharmacists, delivery personnel and other relevant stakeholders.
