Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Forth Valley Prisons Health Care for the position of Pharmacy Assistant.

The role of the Pharmacy Assistant is to:

1. Assist with the accurate and timely processing and supply of medicines within the prison, following specified procedures.
2. Contribute to the day-to-day running of the Health Centre by ensuring an efficient and accurate medicines supply process.
3. Respond to requests from healthcare staff and prisoners for supplies of medicines, dressings, sundries, and appliances required to meet the needs of the prison population.
4. Participate in the control and distribution of medicines, both as named patient supplies and as stock within the prison.
5. Assist in the filing of prescription kardexes and generate stock control documentation.
6. Help ensure the quality of service, environment, and equipment meet the specified standards.

Previous experience working within a pharmaceutical setting is required.

The contract is for NHS Forth Valley Prison Healthcare. This post is based at HMP Glenochil, but staff may be asked to move to other establishments if service needs require.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential.
