Job description

Post Post Description

The post holder will be involved in the following activities within the Aseptic Dispensing Unit:

  1. The receipt and processing of product requests.
  2. The receipt, checking, and storage of pharmaceutical and related deliveries.
  3. Routine disinfection of pharmaceuticals needed for the preparation of products, using specialised disinfectants and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
  4. Product tray assembly for final product preparation.
  5. Specialised cleaning of the Aseptic Dispensing Unit.

The post holder will receive training for the appropriate aseptic dispensing modules of NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy services.

This position requires a Disclosing & Barring Services (DBS) check.

Main Tasks
  1. Perform specialised cleaning of facilities and equipment using appropriate disinfectants in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice.
  2. Receive and process orders of aseptic products within the unit.
  3. Ensure sufficient stocks of goods and consumables are available, stored correctly, and records are maintained.
  4. Participate in environmental monitoring of the unit as part of the Quality Assurance programme.
  5. Set up and assemble trays of medicinal components for final product preparation.
  6. Remove general, clinical, and pharmaceutical waste to designated disposal areas.
  7. Check and unpack daily orders of medicines and consumables, store them correctly, and report any issues to the Senior Technician.
  8. Participate in weekend, public holiday, out-of-hours, and extended hours pharmacy services.
  9. Comply with Trust policies on security, patient confidentiality, and safe working procedures and legislation.
