Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant to join our Supply Services team at NHS Jobs in Truro. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dispensary and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Attend to customers and telephone calls promptly and in a friendly manner.
2. Receive prescriptions following current procedures through the prescription tracking system.
3. Dispense medication for in-patients, out-patients, and patient discharge, including oral cytotoxic medication.
4. Generate labels using the pharmacy computer system, ensuring accurate issues points and providing clear directions for patients.
5. Maintain accurate records using the pharmacy computer system and adhere to Pharmacy Archive Procedure for paper records.
6. Perform reception duties, dealing with patients and NHS staff enquiries face to face or by telephone.
7. Dispense medicines according to standard operating procedures under the supervision of the responsible pharmacist.
8. Conduct routine stock checks and expiry date checks, ensuring proper stock rotation.
9. Maintain a clean, safe working environment through daily and weekly cleaning and tidying of the dispensary.
10. Ensure accuracy in all stages of the dispensing process and pass the South West Dispensing Accuracy Assessment every 2 years.
11. Utilize the automated dispensing machine as required by the department.
12. Perform all activities in accordance with training and departmental standard operating procedures.
