Job summary

Spire Claremont Hospital in Sheffield invites an experienced Pharmacy Assistant to join on a permanent basis, 37.5 hours per week. You will support the Pharmacy Team at our hospital, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines and cost efficiency.

You will undertake activities to assist in delivering pharmaceutical care, maintain stock records, communicate with colleagues and patients, and develop your skills.

Qualifications

  • Customer-facing experience is essential.
  • Pharmacy services NVQ or equivalent training underway.
  • Teamworking and supervisory support experience.
  • Basic health, safety and infection control training.
  • Fluent English language (IELTS 7.0) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacy team to provide an exemplary service within scope and legislation.
  • Deliver a pharmacy service that supports patients' health and wellbeing needs.
  • Move and manage medicines and maintain stock records.
  • Maintain data and computer records, and communicate with staff and patients.
  • Contribute to personal development and uphold safety and quality.
  • Support equality, diversity and rights within the team.

Pharmacy Assistant | Pharmacy Department | Spire Claremont Hospital | Private | 37.5hrs per week | Sheffield

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Assistant to join on a permanent basis. This role will support our Pharmacy Team at our Spire Claremont Hospital.

Spire Claremont Hospital has provided first-class independent healthcare at the heart of the South Yorkshire community since 1953. Our hospital is situated among beautifully landscaped grounds in Crosspool, Sheffield and it is situated 3 miles (about 20 minutes) to the southwest of Sheffield city centre.

Claremont Hospital has 42 beds, three laminar flow theatres with a fourth minor ops theatre, 13 consulting rooms, JAG accredited Endoscopy suite, a static MRI and CT scanner, and plain and digital X-ray. The hospital provides surgery and outpatients with diagnostic imaging services.

Duties and responsibilities;

To assist the pharmacy team to provide an exemplary pharmacy service to the hospital and its customers, working within own level of competence and in accordance with current legislation, accepted professional and ethical standards and Spire Healthcare policies and procedures. Contribute to the safe and effective use of medicines, ensuring cost efficiency.

  • Undertake activities to assist in delivering pharmaceutical care.
  • Assist in delivering a pharmacy service that meets individuals’ health and wellbeing needs.
  • Assist with the movement and management of medicines.
  • Modify and structure data, computer records and stock management documents.
  • Establish and maintain communication with people on routine activities.
  • Contribute to own personal development.
  • Maintain own and others’ health and safety and security.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing services.
  • Ensure own actions help to maintain quality.
  • Ensure own actions support equality, diversity and rights.
    • Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI.

Who we're looking for

  • Customer facing experience
  • Pharmaceutical experience desirable
  • Scottish/National Vocational Qualification (S/NVQ) Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, undertaking training toward this qualification, achievement of a training programme accredited to be of equivalent level to S/NVQ Level 2, or (currently employed staff only) work experience that has been formally assessed and competency registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Team working
  • Working with supervision
  • Administrative role involving checking and monitoring
  • Basic awareness of health, safety and hygiene.
  • Trained on MS Office and other relevant packages.
  • English language to IELTS 7.0.
  • Possess the mandatory training requirements for role including infection control and health and safety competencies.
