Job summary

Spire Leeds Hospital in Leeds is recruiting an Oncology Pharmacist for a full-time, permanent role. The post offers 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday with an on-call rota for Saturdays.

Oncology experience is required; the successful candidate will lead the oncology pharmacy service, advise clinicians, and ensure safe, effective use of medicines in a private hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacy degree and GPhC registration with oncology focus.
  • Oncology specialization via diploma or extensive oncology practice.
  • Experience in cytotoxic handling and hospital pharmacy preferred.
  • Excellent communication with consultants and clinical teams.
  • Strong stock control and CPD in oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver the hospital's specialist oncology pharmacy service.
  • Advise consultants and clinicians on safe, cost-effective medicine use.
  • Ensure compliance with current legislation and professional standards.
  • Promote multidisciplinary, patient-centered care and use prescribing within competence.
  • Plan, monitor and quality assure chemotherapy provision.

Oncology Pharmacist | Pharmacy | Full Time | Permanent | Leeds – LS8

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Oncology Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team on a full time, permanent basis.

  • Full Time – 37.5hrs per week
  • Monday – Friday shift pattern with an on-call rota for Saturdays

Spire Leeds Hospital, located in Roundhay, Leeds, has been treating patients for almost 30 years. We are the region’s largest private hospital in terms of the range of services we offer and the number of consultants we work with. The hospital offers a range of services and facilities including four operating theatres, a sterile services department, a dedicated endoscopy suite, and a diagnostic and imaging department with an MRI and CT scanner. There are outpatient and physiotherapy departments providing services six days per week

Duties and responsibilities

To provide an exemplary pharmacy service in accordance with current legislation accepted professional and ethical standards and clinical requirements, beresponsible forleading, managing and delivering the specialist pharmacy service of oncology. To provide advice and support to consultants, other clinicians and patients ensuring the safe, appropriate and cost effective use of medicines. To advise the hospital and its departments on the safe management of medicines, ensuring compliance with current legislation and professional standards. Promote a multidisciplinary, patient focused approach to the delivery of an efficient, high quality healthcare service. Use independent prescribing to enhance patient experience within the individual’s competency to do so.

  • Assess thehealthandwell-beingof patients whose needsmaybecomplex and changing within thecontextoftheirmedicines.
  • Diagnose, monitor,prescribe and safeguard medicines accordingto independent practice and competency.
  • Plan,monitorandevaluatethemovementofmedicines.
  • Establishandmaintaineffectivecommunicationwithvariousindividualsandgroups oncomplex,sensitiveandoccasionallycontentiousissuesinarangeofsituations.
  • Leadothersinthedevelopmentofknowledge,ideasandworkpractice.
  • Modifyandstructuredata,information,computerrecordsandstockmanagement documents.

Who we're looking for
  • Pharmaceutical Degree{BSc/MScHons).
  • CurrentmemberoftheGeneralPharmaceuticalCouncil.
  • Experience ofapplyingclinical reasoningskillsto arangeof complex and varied patient requirements.
  • Highlyspecialistknowledgethroughadiploma inclinicalpharmacy and/or acquiredthroughtrainingandexperience, particularly in the fieldof oncology.
  • Previousexperienceasapharmacistspecialisingintheprovisionofanoncology service is essential
  • Experienceofworkinginanindependent sectorhospitalpharmaceutical department.
  • Experience ofworking with cytotoxic medicines and preparingchemotherapy.
  • Competenceacrossarangeof skills supportedbyprofessionalknowledgein oncology.
  • Experienceofworkinginpartnershipwithconsultantsandparticipatingincreating innovative solutionfor newoncology services.
