Our Pharmacy Technician rate of pay starts from £14.44 an hour; this increases for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location and skills.

It's our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you'd like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. There's a lot more to it than dispensing medicines. Every day you'll have the opportunity to make things better for customers in all sorts of ways, such as support for giving up smoking, reviewing customers' use of medicines, checking blood pressure or testing for blood glucose levels. It's very much about supporting our communities, by making the best healthcare choices available and convenient for local people.

Working alongside industry experts, you will receive local management and leadership support in whatever store you are based. Our management team comes from a variety of backgrounds so there is always a chance to learn.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Accurately completing the checking process, following a clinical check by a pharmacist.
  2. Proactively identifying customers that need help and offer appropriate information on common ailments, symptoms and products.
  3. Taking time to understand customers' needs, explaining the benefits of the products in a way they understand and only selling products that are right for the customer.
  4. Advise customers on the range of Pharmacy services available.
  5. Support and deliver Pharmacy Services and the Dispensing Process according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
  6. Effectively checking dispensed prescriptions for accuracy according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
  7. Confidently check the legal validity and accuracy of dispensed prescriptions.
  8. Effectively respond to clinical and legal queries from Healthcare practitioners within area of competence.
  9. Effectively respond to customer queries in relation to prescription medicines, informing the Pharmacist of any complaints.
  10. Ensure all dispensary routines and Standard Operating Procedures are followed.
  11. Ensure dispensary and consulting rooms are clean, tidy and free of clutter.
  12. Ensure all prescription administration is accurate and completed on time, demonstrating excellent attention to detail.
  13. Bringing promotional activities and company initiatives within the team to life.
  14. Actively strive to meet departmental targets set by the Pharmacy Manager.
  15. Carrying out all procedures accurately to protect profit and ensure we trade safely and legally.
  16. Supporting the Pharmacy Manager and Duty Pharmacy Manager with the supervision and development of other pharmacy team members through coaching and feedback.
  17. Be supportive of, and willing to help, colleagues and management at all times.
  18. Keep up to date with legal and professional developments in pharmacy.
  19. Registering with the General Pharmaceutical Council as an Accuracy Checking Technician, completing a GPhC recognised training course, following successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program, NVQ 3 or equivalent.
  20. Upholding the GPhC standards and public trust in pharmacy so patients have confidence that you are fully qualified and meet all professional, fitness to practise and ethical standards.
  21. Being responsible for undertaking Continuing Professional Development and maintaining annual registration with GPhC each year.

You will need:

  1. A pharmacy technician/accuracy checking technician NVQ (or similar) qualification.
  2. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician/Accuracy Checking Technician.
  3. Proof of completion of a recognised training course for an Accuracy Checking Technician/Pharmacy Technician.
  4. Proof of completing your annual Continuing Professional Development requirements.
