Job Purpose:

To provide professional and high-quality pharmaceutical services to the public, ensuring the safe, legal, and effective supply of medicines. The post holder will lead the provision of NHS and private pharmacy services, offer clinical advice, and support the health and wellbeing of the local community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately dispense NHS and private prescriptions in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Deliver and promote NHS services such as:
  • New Medicine Service (NMS)
  • Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS)
  • Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination Services
  • Hypertension Case-Finding
  • Smoking Cessation and Weight Management
  • Offer over-the-counter advice and medication in line with GPhC standards and company protocols.
  • Counsel patients on the safe and effective use of prescribed and non-prescribed medicines.
  • Oversee and support pharmacy team members, including dispensers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date PMR records.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring appropriate procurement and storage of medicines.
  • Comply with all GPhC, NHS, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Uphold excellent customer service and promote the pharmacy as a hub for community health.
  • Take part in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
  • Contribute to the training and development of pre-registration trainees and pharmacy support staff.
Required Qualifications & Registration:
  • Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree or equivalent.
  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacist.
  • Successful completion of the pre-registration training year.
Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Clinical decision-making and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient in using pharmacy PMR and NHS IT systems (e.g., EPS, PharmOutcomes).
  • Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively in a busy retail environment.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of pharmacy business performance indicators.
Desirable:
  • Independent Prescriber qualification (or willingness to train).
  • Previous experience working in a community pharmacy setting.
  • Familiarity with NHS pharmacy contract and service delivery targets.
