Job summary

Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital is seeking a part-time Pharmacist to join the hospital pharmacy team in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. You will be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and bring post‑qualification experience to patient‑focused medicines management.

Working 22.5 hours over three days, you’ll optimise therapy, support ward teams and contribute to safe, cost-effective drug use within the hospital.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Proven post-qualification experience in hospital pharmacy.
  • Excellent communication and people skills for patient-facing care.

Responsibilities

  • Join a multidisciplinary team as Medicines Management Lead.
  • Deliver high‑quality clinical care and advice to departments.
  • Provide services to pre‑assessment, outpatient, ward and theatres.
  • Participate in ward rounds and MDT meetings.
  • Educate patients on prescribed medications and safety.
  • Conduct medication reconciliation and drug utilization reviews.
  • Document clinical interventions and outcomes clearly.
  • Offer drug information and training to staff and patients.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and national regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audits and medication safety.

Up to £52,000 per annum pro rata depending on skills and experience

As a Pharmacist at our hospital,you’ll be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and you’ll have proven post-qualification experience. It’s also important that you have excellent communication and people skills, as you’ll be working closely with our patients and a variety of clinical staff.


The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for optimising medication therapy and promoting safe, effective, and cost-efficient drug use within the hospital. The role involves direct patient care in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to improve treatment outcomes and minimise medication-related problems.


Asa Pharmacist,youwill:

  • Join our talented multidisciplinary team

  • Offer services to a range of departments, including the pre-assessment clinic, outpatient department, ward and theatres
  • Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Educate patients on the proper use of prescribed medications
  • Conduct medication reconciliation and drug utilization reviews
  • Document clinical interventions and outcomes
  • Provide drug information and training to healthcare staff and patients
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, national regulations, and accreditation standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and medication safety programs
  • Report adverse drug reactions and medication errors

Asa Pharmacist,youwill have:

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and disease management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

This role is part time of 22.5 hours per week. Hours are to be worked over 3 full days between 8.30am -4.30pm. We can offer flexibility on which days.

About Cheltenham Hospital


Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital is located in the beautiful area of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. It has excellent transport links nearby, being veryclose to theM5 and A417.The hospital has 33 ensuite private bedrooms, 3 theatresand a small ambulatory unit. It also hosts a purpose built close observation unit, 12 consulting rooms with access to treatment rooms,diagnostic services including; plain x-ray, MRI, CT, mammography andultrasound. We provide a full range of medical and surgical specialities delivered in state-of-the-art clinical facilities, including orthopaedics, cosmetic surgery, spinal services, sports injury, ENT, gynaecology, urology, as well as a rapid access breast clinic.
