This role requires to travel between our Hayes and Derby sites on a regular basis.

We are looking for a Pharmaceutical Buyer to support the Head of Procurement in delivering a best-in-class procurement function and strategy, driving continuous growth and development for the Uniphar Global Sourcing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop global relationships directly with manufacturers, promoting the ethos of the Uniphar Group and the Global Sourcing business.
  • Engage with key internal stakeholders, including Sales, Operations, Quality, Finance, and HR.
  • Monitor and manage competitor activities and offerings outside of On-Demand global channels, providing appropriate responses and communications.
  • Own supply chain relationships, understand constraints, and coordinate activities to address supply gaps.
  • Present and update on key initiatives weekly or monthly to the OD Head of Procurement team.
  • Support procurement strategies for Generics, Prescriptions medicines, Medical devices, OTCs across regions: Europe, UK, Americas, MENA, Australasia, LATAC, and Africa.
  • Shape the UK On-Demand procurement strategy, support onboarding of new distribution agreements, and streamline procurement processes.
  • Develop a robust product and supplier portfolio in the UK, maintaining up-to-date pricing and availability.
  • Expand supplier access in ROW markets such as US, Canada, EU, and Asia.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales to grow the OD business.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years' buying experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience with unlicensed medicines is desirable.
  • Proven success in achieving targets within wholesale, retail, or NHS Hospital environments.
  • Strong understanding of NHS and Hospital Pharmacy operations.
  • Extensive relationship management experience.
  • Ability to incorporate financial and strategic perspectives into procurement policies.
  • Excellent analytical, commercial, and communication skills.
  • Resilient, tenacious, and adaptable.
  • Capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and familiar with CRM systems.
  • Detail-oriented with a professional communication style.
  • Open to change and continuous learning.
