Job summary

SRG is seeking a Materials Characterisation & Formulation Scientist in the United Kingdom to advance formulation development and manufacturing science. You will design experiments, evaluate material variability, and build small-scale process models to predict performance during material changes.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to interpret data, produce technical reports, and support GLP-compliant documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of industrial experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, process development, manufacturing sciences, or related fields.
• Experience working with oral solid dosage forms and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
• Experience designing experimental studies and interpreting scientific data.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory studies to evaluate impact of material variability and supplier changes on drug product performance.
• Apply Science of Scale to develop small-scale models of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
• Utilise modelling and data-driven approaches to predict performance during material change assessments.
• Design and perform formulation-based studies to assess manufacturing and quality risks.
• Investigate relationships between material attributes, process parameters and critical quality attributes.
• Develop experiments covering powder blending, granulation, flow, and tablet compression.
• Interpret data to understand scale-dependent manufacturing behaviour and provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with formulation scientists, manufacturing engineers, analytical scientists and project teams.
• Document work in accordance with GLP and SOPs; prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Track progress and communicate updates to programme leads and stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement and laboratory excellence initiatives.
