Job responsibilities

1. Simulation technical support responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for the PGMDE simulation training programme and facilities.
  • The post-holder will be required to work across different sites and within the hospital.
  • Support in-situ simulation and mobile training programmes, as agreed with the Senior Management Team.
  • Work closely with the PGMDE Simulation Associate Directors, Clinical Skills Tutors, and Divisional Simulation Leads to ensure readiness for simulation activities.
  • Coordinate with the PGMDE Team to ensure smooth running of training programmes across various locations, including satellite sites and mobile wards.
  • Manage installation, care, maintenance, and equipment management within the PGMDE Department and related areas.
  • Support conferences, courses, and training sessions for internal and external organizations.
  • Participate in and teach the use of simulation equipment during training days.
  • Provide training in specialised equipment to PGMDE staff and users.
  • Resolve faults/problems with equipment used in the department and other sites.
  • Coordinate with external contractors to ensure contractual adherence.
  • Control stock, supplies, and equipment, maintaining detailed inventories.
  • Understand working protocols in sterile and non-sterile environments.
  • Assist with setup of training rooms for postgraduate training.

2. Coordination responsibilities

  • Manage administration and logistics of the simulation training programme and facilities.
  • Coordinate course administration, including materials preparation, venue booking, advertising, and attendee registration.
  • Manage budgets, process course costs, invoices, and payments.
  • Organize governance meetings related to Simulation.
  • Maintain and update faculty lists.
  • Develop and analyze feedback mechanisms for courses and training.
  • Deputise for the Conference Centre Manager when needed.
  • Supervise simulation activities and junior staff.
  • Provide front-of-house support during staff absences.

3. Communication & Networking

  • Maintain and update the PGMDE website and intranet pages related to simulation.
  • Assist with writing course programmes and promotional materials for online platforms.
  • Collaborate with external groups (NHSE, KHP) and internal teams (PRUH Hospital) to facilitate cross-site collaboration.

4. Decision Making, Planning, and Problem Solving

  • Advise on procurement of audiovisual, IT, and simulation equipment.
  • Develop new technological training services and act as a reference point for new developments.
  • Work independently and use initiative to resolve issues, keeping line managers informed.

5. Special Requirements

  • May require irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, for training schedules and room setup.

6. General Administrative Duties

  • Answer phones, receive visitors, arrange meetings, and order hospitality.
  • Maintain confidentiality per Data Protection Act and Trust policies.
  • Attend regular meetings with line managers and team.

  • University Degree or substantial professional experience, or relevant qualification with extended learning.
Experience
  • Experience in a Higher/Further Education or NHS environment.

  • Audio-visual skills, including filming and editing for academic/business purposes.
