Job summary

Virgin Active is seeking a Freelance PGA Golf Coach to join our coaching community. This self-employed role operates on a rental agreement with 20 hours of facility access per week and the option to purchase additional hours, offering a flexible coaching business within a supportive club environment.

You will deliver private and group coaching, support junior programmes, inductions and member experiences while building your own client base and aligning with our wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

• PGA ASQ Level 2 Certificate or higher required.
• DBS check up-to-date.
• Public liability insurance required.
• Proven experience coaching golfers of all ages and abilities.
• Experience using TrackMan to support coaching.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality private lessons, group coaching, beginner programmes and academy sessions.
• Coordinate a coaching schedule with the Product Revenue Manager.
• Support junior development programmes and holiday camps.
• Induct members during club onboarding and demonstrations.
• Build and retain your client base and manage bookings.
• Collaborate with club staff to connect golf with wellness programmes.
• Handle member feedback professionally and maintain guest relations.
• Follow health and safety and safeguarding policies.

The Role

Deliver high-quality private lessons, group coaching, beginner programmes and academy sessions, adapting your approach to each golfer’s goals and ability.

Work with the Product Revenue Manager to coordinate a coaching schedule that balances private lessons, group sessions and member play.

Support junior development programmes and holiday camps, helping younger players develop their skills and enjoyment of the game.

Introduce members to the golf facilities through inductions as part of their club onboarding, where applicable.

Support golf events, competitions, workshops and member experiences that encourage participation.

Build and retain your own client base through excellent coaching, strong relationships and a professional approach.

Work with colleagues across the club to connect golf with our wider wellness programmes and initiatives.

Create a welcoming environment for every member and guest, handling feedback and complaints professionally.

Follow the club’s health and safety and safeguarding policies, reporting concerns through the appropriate channels.

Represent Virgin Active professionally and uphold our brand standards.

What we need from you

A PGA ASQ Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Golf, or a higher qualification recognised in the UK.

An up-to-date DBS check and Public Liability Insurance.

Proven experience delivering high-quality golf coaching across a range of ages and abilities.

Experience using TrackMan to support coaching and player development.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for helping others progress.

The ability to work independently, manage your schedule and develop your own coaching business.

Strong organisational and administration skills, including confidence using computer systems and booking platforms.

A professional, polite and practical approach to resolving member concerns.

Flexibility to offer coaching during evenings, weekends and public holidays in response to member demand.

What Success looks like

You’ll deliver coaching that members value, reflected in positive feedback and golf coaching app ratings. Through engaging sessions and strong member relationships, you’ll help increase participation, make effective use of coaching capacity and contribute to member satisfaction and retention.

The Opportunity

This opportunity operates under a rental agreement. You’ll retain your lesson revenue, subject to the agreed facility usage terms, and pay a monthly rental fee.

The agreement includes 20 hours of facility access per week, with the option to purchase additional hours. During peak periods, bookings are limited to a maximum of two consecutive hours.
