Job summary

Air Products Walkden is seeking a PG Operator to safely control depot filling activities, operate electrical motors and pumps, and handle cylinders with care in a fast-paced production environment.

You will support loading operations with a forklift, perform conformity checks on deliveries, document processes clearly, and contribute to safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the site.

In this role, you will be responsible for safely controlling all depot filling activities, including operating electrical motors, running cryogenic and non-cryogenic pumps, moving and connecting cylinders to filling points, and loading completed cylinders onto pallets. You will also support loading operations through the safe use of a forklift truck, complete process documentation accurately and legibly, analyse both incoming and finished products to ensure compliance with quality specifications, and receive incoming product deliveries while carrying out conformity checks. This is a hands-on operational role that requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence within a fast-paced production environment.What will you do:Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with established operating procedures.Maintain high production standards to prevent contamination and perform all required analytical procedures.Operate depot systems safely and efficiently to support daily production and distribution activities.Identify and report operational faults promptly to minimise downtime and maintain safe operations.Handle cylinders safely, including the loading and unloading of pallets and vehicles.Carry out cylinder inspection, cleaning, painting, labelling, and minor cylinder repairs as required.Maintain safe working practices at all times and proactively report any conditions that could lead to unsafe situations.Comply with all applicable legal, corporate, safety, and environmental standards.Take responsibility for the safety and environmental welfare of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors.Wear and appropriately use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated operational areas.Maintain high standards of personal hygiene in line with site and product quality requirements.Complete all quality and process documentation accurately and in a timely manner.Perform analytical instrument calibration checks in accordance with established procedures.Report any instances of product failing to meet specification and support investigations as required.Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and safety throughout the depot.What we are looking for:Ability to drive Forklift trucks in a safe and efficient mannerProven operational or engineering experience within an industry that maintains high standards of safety and safe working practicesA can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and use your initiativeA positive, energetic, and proactive approach to your workA strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvementFounded in 1940, Air Products is a world-leading industrial gases company and has a proud history of innovation, operational excellence, with an unwavering commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
