Job description

Kajima Partnerships is a leading PFI/PPP investor and asset manager specialising in health, education, and civic public sector assets. Together with Kajima Properties Europe and Kajima Community, they promote the meantime use of underused civic and public facilities, forming the bedrock of the Kajima Corporation’s business in the UK and Europe.

We currently have a vacancy for a PFI General Manager to join our Asset Operations team at Kajima Partnerships Ltd.

The role would suit an astute, people-focused candidate with a genuine enjoyment of team working and problem-solving in complex environments. Our Asset Managers sit on the SPV board as statutory directors. They should have an excellent eye for detail and report writing skills, be confident and capable with sharing and presenting information. The role will be home-based with some travel required to the asset sites. The job holder will ideally live in the Nottingham/Leicester/Peterborough area.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure Kajima Partnerships Limited meets its obligations under its Management Services Agreement with the Project Company, addressing any non-compliance.
  2. Ensure delivery and compliance with all obligations of the Project Agreement, Project finance documents, and related contracts.
  3. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Project Agreement, its schedules, and sub-contracts.
  4. Coordinate effectively with the Board and Funders as required by agreements.
  5. Manage Board meetings and proceedings with the Company Secretary, ensuring proper documentation.
  6. Oversee commercial and financial management of projects.
  7. Manage operational aspects of projects.
  8. Ensure service performance management.
  9. Serve as a board director for the Project Co., handling commercial responsibilities.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Proven experience with complex Project Agreements in PFI projects or similar environments.
  2. Understanding of the funding and contractual structures of PFI projects.
  3. Ability to manage relationships with stakeholders including Project Company Boards, funders, subcontractors, and public sector bodies.
  4. Experience with performance monitoring regimes for FM services.
  5. Familiarity with detailed contractual and legal documents and compliance requirements.
  6. Ability to advise on risk management and interpret complex information for risk assessment.
  7. Experience in managing disputes and applying value-for-money principles.
  8. Strong reporting skills and ability to identify key information.
  9. Leadership and team management experience, both direct and in inter-agency contexts.
  10. Ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities.
  11. Capability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  12. Commitment to continuous professional development and legislative updates.
