Job Description
Job Purpose

The Pest Control Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive pest control services, including proofing, to our client. This involves controlling all pest species covered under our contract, conducting thorough inspections to identify environmental conditions conducive to pest activity, whether covered by the contract or not.

This role requires visiting sites at scheduled intervals, performing detailed inspections safely and professionally, adhering to Health and Safety and Hygiene regulations. Effective communication of observations verbally and in writing through reports is essential.

Principal Accountabilities
  1. Attend necessary training courses to keep skills current with technical and business developments.
  2. Conduct onsite practical and awareness training with CITY colleagues.
  3. Take ownership of pest-related issues such as infestations, cleaning, and proofing to resolve ongoing problems.
  4. Respond promptly to emergency call-outs from the Helpdesk.
  5. Support the achievement of company KPIs.
  6. Prepare detailed reports on stores, escalating issues to relevant stakeholders.
  7. Identify non-repairable infestation faults in plant and machinery, advising the Area Manager with recommendations for replacement.
  8. Prioritize recommendations to stores, ensuring timely responses to proactively prevent pest activity.
  9. Make recommendations for non-repairable proofing works to the National Pest Control Operations Manager and Field Support Supervisor.
  10. Carry out proofing works and installations within technical competence and current specifications.
  11. Advise and document pest activity and environmental conditions detrimental to store operations to the SM.
  12. Provide written reports detailing pest activity and environmental conditions, for submission to Trading Law, Operational Managers, SMs, etc.
  13. Maintain vehicle and equipment in good condition, ordering supplies as needed.
  14. Comply with company health and safety policies and use pesticides responsibly.
  15. Support energy efficiency and cost-effective operations.
  16. Represent the company professionally, fostering good relationships with colleagues and clients.
  17. Maintain quality standards in collaboration with company and customer teams.
Skills, Background, and Qualifications
  • Minimum 12 months experience as a pest control technician.
  • Royal Society of Health Certification in Pest Control or British Pest Control Association Diplomas Part 1 and 2.
  • Bird proofing, fumigation, and general building skills are desirable.
  • Experience in pest control within retail, leisure, or FM sectors is advantageous.
  • Good PC literacy and communication skills.
  • Full driving license.
  • Professional, helpful, self-motivated, flexible, and positive in approach.
