Qualifications

• Extensive personal tax experience in an accountancy practice or tax firm.
• Strong understanding of self assessment and private client compliance.
• Experience managing client relationships and leading portfolios.
• Ability to explain technical tax matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
• Willingness to develop advisory skills and supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of private clients and acting as their main point of contact.
• Preparing and reviewing self assessment tax returns and supporting computations.
• Ensuring clients understand their tax liabilities, payment dates and compliance obligations.
• Overseeing portfolio deadlines and coordinating work with colleagues.
• Advising on routine personal tax matters and identifying opportunities for further planning.
• Supporting managers and partners with advisory assignments and more complex technical queries.
• Liaising with HMRC on client matters and assisting with enquiries where required.
• Reviewing work prepared by junior colleagues and providing constructive feedback.
• Building strong client relationships and maintaining a high standard of service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced personal tax professional looking for greater client responsibility and the opportunity to develop their technical and supervisory skills within an established practice.

As a Personal Tax Assistant Manager, you’ll manage a varied private client portfolio, oversee compliance assignments and support senior colleagues with tax planning and advisory work. You’ll also review work and help junior team members develop their knowledge and confidence.

Requirements

To be considered for this Personal Tax Assistant Manager opportunity, you’ll have:

• Strong personal tax experience within an accountancy practice or specialist tax firm.
  
• A thorough understanding of self assessment and private client tax compliance.
  
• Experience managing client relationships and taking ownership of a portfolio or assignments.
  
• Confidence preparing and reviewing personal tax returns.
  
• The ability to explain technical matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
  
• Experience supporting junior team members or reviewing their work.
  
• Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  
• An interest in developing your advisory experience and progressing your tax career.
  
• This Personal Tax Assistant Manager role could suit an experienced Tax Senior ready to step up or an existing Assistant Manager looking for a new opportunity.
  
• £50,000 to £60,000, depending on experience.
