Please read the full post details below carefully before applying. This listing is for our BEARPARK site (three sites available: Consett, Esh Winning and Bearpark). We will only expect you to work at one site in any working day, and you will usually be based in a single location. We are not a domiciliary care provider.

Responsibilities
- Support service users in a cared-for environment at Bearpark, with potential to work at other sites as applicable.
- Participate in a comprehensive induction and ongoing training to develop required skills.
- Work with experienced staff during shadow shifts before direct engagement with service users.
What we offer
- Excellent rate of pay: £13.21 per hour (from 1 April 2025).
- Comprehensive induction training & support package delivered by industry experts; training paid for time attending.
- Training lasts around 4 to 6 weeks, followed by supernumerary shadow shifts.
- We pay every member of staff the same hourly wage, regardless of age.
- 30 days of paid annual leave (2 days more than the minimum).
- No zero-hour contracts; minimum of 35 hours a week for those who wish to work full-time; minimum contract offered is 18 hours.
- Shifts are planned in advance; you will know shifts three weeks in advance.
Qualifications & Recruitment
- Experience is not necessary, but desired life experience and the right attitudes/values help; we will support you through the process and teach you what you need to know.
- Two-stage interview process: formal interview first, then a second-stage interview with some service users; stage two success leads to an offer.
- Current right to work in the UK for at least 12 months; we cannot sponsor visas or applicants without existing right to work.
- There is please note about public transport; bear in mind accessibility of Bearpark and drive requirements.
Location, hours & duties
- Bearpark site is the primary location; reasonable access is required, and transport considerations are noted.
- Shifts will be communicated three weeks in advance; aim to provide a stable schedule for those seeking long-term roles.
- We are committed to long-term development and staff growth rather than short-term placements.
About the charity & application notes
- We are a registered charity and reinvest the majority of our earnings into services and direct staff costs (wages).
- We normally invest around 80% (currently 86%) into direct staff costs; we have no shareholders, no dividends, and no loans or borrowings.
