Job description

Your new company is a prestigious non-ministerial government department based in London, responsible for protecting health in the UK. We are seeking secretarial support for a senior Director within the organisation. This hybrid role is until 18th July 2025, and requires a well-established Personal Assistant skill set within the public sector.

The duties of the role include:

  1. Day-to-day management of information flow, including managing the Director's inbox, prioritising tasks, and triaging issues.
  2. Drafting Director communications as needed, such as staff updates.
  3. Commissioning and coordinating lines, briefings, and speaking notes to strict deadlines, including for committee and board papers.
  4. Managing meetings and the Director's diary, including arranging travel and accommodation.
  5. Providing logistical support for meetings, ensuring the Director is fully prepared and informed.
  6. Identifying and communicating issues raised at meetings and following up on actions.
  7. Developing frameworks for decision-making and stakeholder management.
  8. Building and maintaining relationships with key officials and stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, candidates should have:

  • Proven experience working autonomously, prioritising effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships across all levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarise complex ideas clearly.
  • Experience in diary and inbox management.
