Nottingham College Basford is seeking a Personal Development Tutor (Term Time Only) to join the Pastoral Team. You will deliver tutorials designed to develop personal characteristics, employability skills, and provide guidance to help students achieve success and progress to the next level.

The role requires evidence of computing/ICT proficiency, ability to manage groups, and a teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one. Two posts available: full-time and part-time; 40 weeks TTO.

Qualifications

  • GCSE A*-C in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Experience in managing groups of students.
  • Good ICT and administration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver group tutorials to students.
  • Manage tutor groups and deliver 1-1 student support where appropriate.
  • Support attendance and liaise with parents/guardians.

This will be across a range of levels in Construction, Sport, Public Services, Animal Science, SLDD and Foundation Learning. The pastoral team are also involved in supporting many social events and trips out with our students where we have a lot of fun.As a Personal Development Tutor you will work closely with a Pastoral Team at Basford College to develop and deliver an effective and efficient tutorial programme. This will include facilitating sessions designed to develop personal characteristics and social skills, employability skills and provide students with the support and guidance to enable them to achieve success, develop their potential and progress to their next level.You should hold GCSE A* – C in English and Maths, or equivalent. Be able to demonstrate evidence of managing groups of student, good ICT and administration skills. As this is a post requiring group delivery of tutorials, there is an expectation that you will hold a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.We have 2 permanent positions available for this role -1x Full time (37 hours per week, 40 weeks TTO) position1x Part time (18.5 hours per week, 40 weeks TTO) positionPlease select which of these positions you are interested in as part of the application form.What you’ll bringYou will play a pivotal role in ensuring the student experience is of the highest quality and support students to broaden their experiences and take advantage of opportunities from a college wide perspective and beyond.You should be passionate about student’s achieving their potential and be proactive in putting the mechanisms of support in place to make sure we prepare students not only for college life but also for life and work beyond college.
