Job Description:

We are seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support a young boy with significant health needs in Spennymoor. The role involves assisting with daily care, medical needs, and engaging in activities such as reading, bouncing on a trampoline, and swimming in a warm pool.

The boy requires help with breathing, medication administration, feeding via a tube, and ensuring comfort and safety during sleep. Full training will be provided. The position involves working mainly evenings (3-8 pm), occasional daytime shifts (11 am-5 pm), and overnight shifts (7 pm-7 am), including weekends, with a rota planned 6-8 weeks in advance.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing personal care and support during activities and therapies.
  2. Assisting with mobility and safety, including driving a wheelchair-accessible van.
  3. Administering medication and caring for medical equipment such as suction devices and PEG feeding.
  4. Supporting social and leisure activities.

Qualifications and skills required:

  1. Full UK driving license, able to drive a motability vehicle.
  2. Training in safeguarding, moving & handling, hand hygiene, and medication administration.
  3. Experience or willingness to assist with educational and therapeutic activities.

Pay rate: £13 per hour for 12 hours per week.
