A local caregiver service is seeking a part-time Personal Care Assistant in Norwich to support an 81-year-old woman with dementia. The role involves assisting her with personal care, meal preparation, and companionship, ensuring a stable and healthy living environment. Ideal candidates will bring patience and a positive attitude, helping maintain her active lifestyle. Shifts are on Thursdays from 10am to 6pm, offering a chance to positively impact her well-being.
Carer wanted for my 81 year old mother who has dementia in our bungalow in Earlham NR5 for Thursdays 10am to 6pm. My mother is an amazing woman who spoke 7 languages and went out of her way to help anyone. We are looking for an equally amazing carer who has an open mind, patience, positive energy and a real desire to care; a sense of humour is helpful but not required. The priority is to care and help reliably, be punctual, honest, independent with good decision making skills. Healthy meal preparation is a part of the job. My mother isn’t on any medication and we plan to keep it this way as long as possible; ensuring she is fed and hydrated through the day is paramount. Being active is a must as my mother loves to walk and dance and requires at least 1 hour of walking per day (typically over 2 walks). We are looking for someone permanent starting this month.
Duties include:
Hours: Thursdays only from 10am to 6pm for 8 hour shifts. Some overnights available from 6pm to 10am occasionally. We as a family really need reliability and structure in our lives and require a person who helps us bring this to the house in their care and their actions. We have a calm and friendly family home that includes myself, an 8 year old daughter who is super friendly and funny, and my mother. We are looking for someone who brings stability to help us manage a situation we never thought we would be in, but one we are learning to accept and see the positive in what it brings to us too. There is no medication currently for my mother and we plan to keep her life as medication-free as possible unless totally essential. To do this we rely on interaction, nutritious meals, and a healthy living environment with plenty of fresh air and exercise.
