(71ab8) We are looking for a full-time support worker for a young lady in the Haltwhistle area with a diagnosis of Global Development Delay. She requires a team of carers/support workers to enable her to maintain her independence and support her in hobbies and interests.

This lady lives in an independent setting with support from family and a team of support workers. She attends a day centre 4 days a week, 9am-4pm, where she enjoys activities such as cooking, art, music, and learning new skills. Support outside of these hours is required.

Your role will include supporting her independence, assisting with community outings, activities like going to the gym, swimming, cinema, lunch, and social settings. You will also help her try new activities.

Since she cannot be left unsupervised, you must ensure her safety at all times.

Ideal candidates will be confident, patient, comfortable with repetitive tasks, experienced in working with people with disabilities one-to-one, and committed long-term.

Additional duties include managing staff rotas, handling staff absences and holidays, liaising with payroll and the employer, and other administrative tasks.

This is a busy, hands-on, varied role with on-the-job training provided.

Hours are as follows; please specify availability when applying:

  • Nonday centre days: 3.30pm – 7pm, supporting personal care, cooking, cleaning, bedtime routines including showering, prompting to wash and dry, bedtime story, then bed.
  • Other evenings and weekends supporting community access, maintaining independence, and pursuing hobbies.
  • Hours to be discussed during interview.

Pay rate: £13.09/hour

Main Duties:
  • Supporting daily living activities, including personal care, toileting, showering, sequencing, and dressing.
  • Assisting with meal preparation and supervision during meals.
  • Prompting and administering medication.
  • Supporting community access and outings.

Additional information: An Enhanced DBS check is required at the employer’s expense.

Training in health and safety and other relevant areas will be provided as needed.
