We are looking for a full-time support worker for a young lady in the Haltwhistle area with a diagnosis of Global Development Delay. She requires a team of carers/support workers to help her maintain independence and continue her hobbies and interests.

This lady lives in an independent setting with support from family and a team of support workers. She attends a day centre 4 days a week, from 9am-4pm, engaging in activities like cooking, art, music, and learning new skills. Support outside these hours is also needed.

Your role will include supporting her to maintain independence, such as going out into the community, visiting the gym, swimming, cinema, dining out, and social activities. You must be proactive to ensure her safety at all times.

Ideal candidates are confident, patient, comfortable with repeated tasks, experienced in working with people with disabilities one-to-one, and seeking a long-term commitment.

Additional duties include managing staff rotas, handling staff absences and holidays, liaising with payroll and the employer, and performing general administrative tasks.

This is a busy, hands-on, and varied role, with most skills learned on the job working alongside the team.

Hours required are as follows; please specify your availability when applying:

  • Nonday centre days: 3.30pm - 7pm – support with personal care, cooking, cleaning, bedtime routine (shower, washing, drying, story, bed).
  • Other evenings and weekends to support community access, independence, and hobbies.

Hours to be discussed during the interview.

Pay rate: £13.09 per waking hour.

Location: Haltwhistle area.

Main Duties:
  • Support and supervision in daily activities: personal care, toileting, showering, dressing.
  • Assisting with meals, drinks, and supervision during eating.
  • Prompting and administering medication.
  • Supporting access to community and places of interest.

Further information: An enhanced DBS check is required at the employer’s expense.

Training in health and safety and other relevant areas will be provided as needed.
