A caring organization in Alnwick seeks a Personal Care Assistant to support a 5-year-old girl with complex healthcare needs. The role involves providing close supervision, assisting with personal care, and ensuring the child receives necessary nutrition and medication. Candidates should have experience with children who have disabilities, a positive attitude, and a full UK driving license. This part-time role offers flexibility in hours and competitive pay.
To provide support for a 5-year-old female child with a rare neurodegenerative genetic disorder which has several complex effects on her, including her speech, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, mobility and epilepsy. We are looking to recruit an experienced and caring Support Worker for this little girl who has complex healthcare needs. Support is required both at home and in the local community, where she enjoys activities including hydrotherapy, baking and colouring in pictures.
Main Duties
Due to the child’s complex healthcare needs, you will be required to undertake training which we will provide.
· Provide 1:1 close supervision for the child at all times, she is immobile and totally reliant on her family/support worker to assist with all of her moving and handling needs.
· Support the child to receive all fluids, nutrition and medication via gastrostomy, following training.
· Support the child with Emergency Epilepsy Medication when required, following training.
· Provide support with all personal care.
Hours 5 hours per week during term time weeks and 20 hours per week during all school holiday weeks. There is flexibility around the times and days the support takes place, and this will be discussed with suitable applicants.
Rate of pay - £13.74 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.
Any out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the employer.

The successful applicant must:
· Have experience and a positive understanding about children who have disabilities
· Have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
· Have a high degree of initiative
· Be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised.
· Be flexible
· Have a happy, positive and caring nature
· Respect confidentiality
Full driving licence required. Will be required to drive client's disabiltiy van.
The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer.
