Job Description:

We are looking for a committed Care Worker to support two brothers with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in a rural location, both within the family home and in the community. The role involves assisting with personal care, mobility, and engaging in activities.

Support for Younger Brother (11 years old, 8 hours/week):
  • Assist with morning routines, personal care, toileting, dressing, and preparing for school (Monday to Friday, 7am-8am, 30 mins)
  • Support with toileting needs as mobility declines
  • Help with retrieving objects from the floor and hoisting into a chair
  • Support with showering/bathing, teeth cleaning, and bedtime (Wednesday and Sunday evenings, 1.5 hrs)
Support for Older Brother (13 years old, 8 hours/week):
  • Assist with morning routines, using a ceiling hoist, toileting, dressing, and preparing for school (Monday to Friday, 7am-8am, 30 mins)
  • Support with showering/bathing, teeth cleaning, and bedtime (Wednesday and Sunday evenings, 1.5 hrs)
  • Assist with drinking and activities due to limited arm use
Activities and Support for Both Boys:
  • Community outings such as visiting cafes or walks (3 hours/week)
  • Support with medication administration and moving/handling tasks
  • Hobbies include eating out, video games, Lego, and movies
Additional Information:

Full training will be provided. Due to their disabilities, safety is a priority.

Key Duties:
  • Support boys in accessing activities at home and in the community
  • Provide relief to parents and build rapport with the boys
  • Support with personal care and ensure safety from risks
Hours:

Approx. 16 hours/week, flexible within a 4-week period, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Requirements:
  • High initiative, punctuality, reliability, flexibility, and a caring attitude
  • Valid UK driving license and own car with Business Insurance
Pay and Benefits:

£16.41/hour, 5.6 weeks holiday (pro-rata), expenses covered, DBS check and references required.
