Job description

Personal Care Assistant for a lady, north of Alnwick. Weekends £16.41 p/h, Alnwick

This job involves supporting a female client with Batten's disease, a progressive illness, in a small village approximately 15 minutes north of Alnwick. The role requires weekend work, with calls scheduled around 8:30/9 am to 5:30/6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Each call lasts 2 hours, and you will work with a second carer. There is also potential for additional hours during weekdays to cover other carers' holidays.

Main duties include:

  • Providing all elements of personal care, including support with activities of daily living, using a mobile hoist, and assisting with repositioning, as the client cannot see, communicate, or move independently.
  • Supporting with a pureed diet, meal preparation, feeding, and drinking, especially around choking risks.
  • Administering medication via PEG and completing relevant documentation.
  • Assisting with general tasks such as laundry, bed changes, ensuring the wet room is clean and safe, and supporting hospital appointments.

Requirements:

  • Homecare experience preferred.
  • Honest, reliable, and caring nature.
  • Punctuality and trustworthiness.
  • Respect for confidentiality.

Additional information:

  • An Enhanced DBS check and references are required.
  • Training in health and safety, moving & handling, safeguarding, food hygiene, first aid, and medication administration will be provided.

Essential qualifications include a full UK driving license and own vehicle, along with training in medication safety, continence care, epilepsy awareness, PEG feeding, and other relevant areas.
