TeacherActive is recruiting a Personal Care Assistant for an OFSTED Outstanding specialist school in Swindon. You will work full-time, Monday to Friday during term time, providing essential personal care and supporting pupils aged 3 to 19 with complex needs.

You will assist with mobility, mealtimes and learning activities, while safeguarding and promoting independence. Training (manual handling, medication administration and feeding support) is provided to support your development.

Formación

• Relevant qualifications or training in Health and Social Care, SEND, moving and handling or personal care are desirable.
• Proven hands-on experience providing personal care to children, young people or individuals with complex needs.
• Experience in a specialist school, children's care setting, healthcare or disability support.
• Understanding safeguarding, dignity, intimate care, mobility support and promoting independence.

Responsabilidades

• Provide essential hands-on personal care including intimate care and mobility support.
• Support pupils with learning, development and wellbeing in classroom and therapeutic activities.
• Assist with meals, hydration and communication while promoting independence and participation.
• Undertake specialist training (manual handling, medication administration, feeding support) as required.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with an OFSTED Outstanding specialist school in Swindon, supporting children and young people aged 3 to 19 with a wide range of complex additional needs, physical disabilities and learning difficulties. The school offers a welcoming, nurturing and inclusive environment, with a dedicated team who are passionate about helping pupils develop confidence, independence and essential life skills through personalised education and specialist support.

The school is looking to appoint an experienced Personal Care Assistant from January 2027, working full-time, Monday to Friday during term time. The successful Personal Care Assistant will provide essential hands-on personal care alongside meaningful educational and pastoral support, assisting pupils with intimate care, mobility, mealtimes and communication while encouraging independence, emotional wellbeing and participation in classroom learning, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy activities. Specialist training will be provided in areas such as manual handling, medication administration and tube feeding where required.

The successful Personal Care Assistant will have:

• Relevant qualifications or training in Health and Social Care, SEND, moving and handling or personal care are desirable
• Proven hands-on experience providing personal care to children, young people or individuals with complex physical disabilities, learning difficulties or additional needs
• Experience in a specialist school, children's care setting, healthcare, disability support or similar role involving direct personal care and individual support
• A good understanding of safeguarding, dignity, intimate care, mobility support and the importance of promoting independence and emotional wellbeing
• The confidence to support individuals with complex care needs and a willingness to undertake specialist training in manual handling, medication administration and feeding support
• A compassionate, patient and proactive approach, with excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting children's education, development and wellbeing
