Job summary

Harland Care Services Ltd is seeking compassionate Care Assistants to support a 52-year-old gentleman with a spinal cord injury in Southampton. The role focuses on enabling wellbeing, community access, and companionship rather than intensive personal care.

Shifts are up to 21 hours per week, mainly afternoons with occasional evenings. A manual driving licence is essential; full training and ongoing support are provided. This is a direct employment role, not an agency position.

• Reliable and punctual.
• A confident and competent driver (manual licence essential).
• Happy to accompany the client to social and leisure activities.
• Empathetic, respectful and person-centred in approach.
• Able to work independently and build a positive professional relationship.
• Experience in care welcomed, but attitude and willingness to support goals are key.

Responsibilities

• accompany client on outings and activities to access the community and pursue passions.
• Help with access to cinema, pubs, cafés, theatre shows, concerts and events.
• Assist with eating and drinking as needed.
• Support swimming sessions and visits to New Forest, beaches and beauty spots.
• Assist with domestic admin tasks and correspondence.

CARE ASSISTANT / CARE SUPPORT COMPANIONS - LOCATION: SOUTHAMPTON - INSPIRE NEURO FACILITY

Salary: £14.32 per hour

Hours: Up to 21 hours per week | Primarily afternoons, with occasional evenings

Harland Care Services Ltd is seeking compassionate, reliable, trustworthy and engaging Care Assistants/Care Support Companions to support a friendly 52-year-old gentleman living with a C3/C4 spinal cord injury. Our client currently lives at a rehabilitation facility in Southampton and is eager to continue enjoying the activities and interests that bring him joy and companionship. This role is less about personal care and more about enabling him to maintain his wellbeing, access the community, and live life to the fullest.

About the Role

You will accompany and support our client on outings and activities, helping him access the community and pursue his passions.

• Trips to the cinema
• Visits to local pubs and cafés
• Assisting with eating and drinking
• Swimming sessions
• Theatre shows and live performances
• Concerts and events
• Exploring the New Forest, beaches, and local beauty spots
• Community walks while supporting him as he uses his powered wheelchair
• Assistance with domestic admin tasks eg correspondence
• The client owns a Fiat Doblo vehicle with manual gearbox, so a confident driver willing to drive his vehicle is essential and would significantly enhance his quality of life.
