McDonald’s in Berwick-upon-Tweed seeks a caring Personal Assistant to support an 11-year-old boy with ASD and learning disabilities. You will assist with personal care, accompany him on outings, aid his independence, and help him enjoy the local community.

The ideal candidate is patient, proactive and reliable; autism/complex needs experience is preferred. A full UK driving license and access to a car are preferred for activities and transport.

Qualifications

Experience supporting children with autism or complex needs is beneficial.
Reliable, calm, and proactive with a caring approach.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care and support to the child with ASD and learning disabilities.
Support to access leisure activities and community outings.
Encourage independence and safe travel with driving support.

Job description

We are looking for a caring and reliable Personal Assistant to support an amazing 11-year-old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), sensory processing disorder and significant learning disabilities. He is a happy, fun-loving young boy who enjoys getting out and about, exploring local parks, browsing the shops and, like many children his age, treats to McDonald's! He communicates in his own unique way and is largely non-verbal, so we're looking for someone who is patient, understanding and willing to learn what matters to him. Building a trusting relationship and helping him enjoy new experiences at his own pace will be a key part of this role. You'll support him to access leisure activities, explore the local community, develop independence skills and enjoy meaningful, enjoyable time away from home. Personal care, including continence care, is also required. We're looking for someone who is calm, compassionate and proactive, with plenty of enthusiasm for finding fun activities and outings. Experience supporting children with autism or complex needs would be beneficial, but a positive attitude and willingness to build a great relationship are just as important.A driver with access to a vehicle is preferred.
