Primary Responsibilities
- Follow departmental procedures, safety regulations, and adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines to maintain programs and operations for Heritage.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as dressing, toileting, bathing, grooming, and oral hygiene, following the plans of service set by management.
- Accurately document and chart according to Heritage policies.
- Follow SAMM policies and procedures strictly.
- Adhere to Universal Precautions and Infection Control Policies, including proper hand washing, use of PPE, and disposal of infectious wastes.
- Understand chemical use and handle chemicals according to standards.
- Report all accidents or incidents immediately to your supervisor.
- Use safety equipment and proper mechanics when performing duties, such as back braces and mechanical lifts.
- Complete assigned tasks within department working hours and guidelines.
- Be versatile and willing to cover various shifts, functions, and work during weekends, holidays, or emergencies as needed.
- Drive Heritage vehicles for errands or transportation as directed.
- Maintain good working relationships with other departments to ensure proper planning and program maintenance.
- Participate in in-service education, on-the-job training, and orientation programs.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director or designee to meet residents' and facility needs.
Personal Care Aide Trainee – Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend all PCA certification courses and clinical training sessions.
- Successfully complete the PCA course and certification exam.
- Communicate openly with the Resident Care Director regarding residents' health, safety, and environmental status.
- Comply with all State and Federal regulations.
- Perform skills competently as per the skills checklist.
- Report concerns, problems, or schedule changes to the Resident Care Director.
- Complete and submit required documentation accurately and on time.
- Establish a therapeutic relationship with patients.
- Perform only tasks prescribed by the Resident Care Director on the plan of care.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certified CNA or HHA.
- Basic computer, telephone, and radio skills.
- Ability to speak understandable English.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Valid MA Driver's License.
Program Details
- Complete a 54-hour PCA training program, including classroom and hands-on training.
- Pass the PCA certification within four weeks of start date.
- Minimum employment of 12 months required to receive PCA certification.
- Earn while you learn through on-the-job training.
Position Details
- Schedule: 40 hours/week, rotating days, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, with weekends and holidays rotation.
- Sign-on bonus eligible.
