Job description

Personal Assistant required for a 22-year-old male with a learning disability and autism. The role involves supporting the individual to attend existing social activities and develop new ones.

The post is for 6 hours per week, which can be used in block or over evenings or weekends, including Friday afternoon. The ideal candidate will be able to support the individual in accessing their local community, developing life skills such as using public transport, gardening, and cooking, and providing companionship in their home.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the employer in gaining independence
  • Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
  • Providing support while shopping and attending activities of interest
  • Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
  • Providing companionship in the employer's home, including engaging in conversation and providing social interaction
  • Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
  • Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during working hours
  • Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer
  • Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act
  • Being mindful of safeguarding issues and feeding back concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council
  • Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker, or Local Authority if the employer needs medical assistance
