Job Title: Personal Assistant

Hours: 25 hours per week

Rate of Pay: £13.00 per hour.

Location: Kenton, Newcastle upon Tyne

Wayne is a 50-year-old man who lives with his wife and 6-year-old son in the Kenton area of Newcastle upon Tyne. Wayne enjoyed spending his time actively with his wife and young son, going out for country walks and relaxing with a bit of fishing. He is also a big Toon fan and attended matches at St James Park on a regular basis. Overall, Wayne is proud of his family and his achievements.

Wayne sustained a brain injury in a workplace accident which has had a devastating effect on all aspects of his life. Through rehabilitation Wayne is able to walk short distances and attend to his personal care and household tasks with minimal support. Wayne has use of an electric wheelchair for longer distances. He also experiences anxiety and increased emotionality since the injury and at times becomes easily frustrated. It is important that he is given time to adapt to new information to enable him to have some control and input. At times, Wayne experiences difficulty expressing himself and getting words out which also leads to frustration therefore patience is an essential attribute required.

The role involves 1:1 working with Wayne, but there will be times when his family and friends or therapists are present too. It is a lone working community-based position.

Wayne is looking for a PA with experience of working with people with brain injuries as part of their rehabilitation, experience of communitybased lone working 1:1 with clients, full driving licence , and who will be comfortable working in a family home environment supporting him in looking after his son.
