This is a revised job description for a position previously posted three years ago. The individual is now 21 years old and studying at Leeds City College Joseph Priestley Centre. His current PA is preparing for university exams and is leaving for work, creating a need for a new PA. The current PA works 2 hours per week, engaging in activities such as playing games, reading books, playing badminton in the garden (weather permitting), riding bikes, walking, visiting the library, or taking buses to Headingley shopping to support his independence. The new PA may also teach activities like yoga or gardening, and occasionally take him to places like trampoline parks.
We are recruiting a PA for my son, who is 21 years old with Autism. He is gentle and easy to work with. We hope you are reliable, enthusiastic, and have some understanding of Autism. The role involves working 1-2 hours per week after school or on weekends, either at home or in community activities, including sports such as gym, running, or cycling. The pay rate is £12.50-£15 per hour, depending on experience, paid via Leeds CIL. Preference for Leeds CIL-approved PAs, with experience working with children with autism, though this is not essential.
