Job description

Job Title: Personal Assistant

Car driver essential

Location: Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne

Hours: 9 hours per week to be used flexibly

Rate of Pay: £14.25 per hour

Peter is an easy-going 45-year-old man who lives in Heaton and is looking for a PA to drive his mobility vehicle to enable him to access the community, go to occasional events, and accompany him locally in his electric wheelchair.

Peter has a wide range of interests and a broad knowledge of music and film. He enjoys shopping, going for drinks, and eating out. Knowledge of the local area would be very useful. He is also a member of English Heritage and is interested in visiting accessible historical sites, art galleries, and museums.

Peter has mobility/sensory difficulties that significantly impact his everyday life. The PA must be aware that he needs to stay hydrated and should have knowledge of basic catheter care. Some assistance with food and drink may be required due to a lack of dexterity in his hands. At times, he can become easily fatigued, so this needs to be monitored. When out and about in his electric wheelchair, the PA should be vigilant about the surrounding environment, particularly surfaces. Ideally, Peter is looking for a PA with similar interests and previous experience working with adults with disabilities.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS check and references, which will be taken up if you are offered the position.

This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed.

At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
