Job summary

We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support Mason, a happy and energetic 11-year-old in Dinnington. The role requires flexible hours, including 12 hours per fortnight during term time and 30 hours per week during school holidays. As an essential part of the role, the driver must be over 30 years old to operate the mobility vehicle.

You will help Mason with activities like swimming and zoo visits, as well as learn about his unique communication needs due to being non-verbal. Knowledge of autism and sensory processing disorders is a key aspect of this position.

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive a mobility vehicle.
• Experience or background knowledge related to non-verbal communication is beneficial.
• Flexibility to work varying hours.

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (Dinnington area)

Hours of work:

Term time: 12 hours per fortnight

School holidays: 30 hours per week (5 hours per day)

Hours to be used flexibly

Rate of pay: £20.00 per hour plus mileage in working hours

Driver essential. To drive mobility vehicle (must be over 30 for insurance purposes)

My name is Mason, I’m a happy and very energetic 11 year old, and I’m looking for a Personal Assistant to support me to get out and about to do some of my favourite activities, as well as visit places that I love exploring. This includes going swimming, trips to the zoo and walks in parks and forest areas.

You will initially spend time with my Mum and family, learning more about me and my needs, as I’m non-verbal, so you will need to know how I communicate. Having some knowledge of Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder and Pica is beneficial for working with me.
