Job Description:

We are looking to employ a Personal Assistant for our 11-year-old son, who lives in Bedale.

You will need experience working with children with autism, especially PDA (pathological demand avoidance) and OCD. Your role will involve helping our son manage social interactions with peers and ensuring his personal safety around other children.

Requirements include being energetic, having good communication skills, a sense of humour, and patience. A driving license is preferable as you will be taking him on outings.

Activities include:

• Escorting our son to parks within walking distance, playing games, and using park facilities.
• Taking him on bus rides into Northallerton or other destinations.
• Visiting places of interest and dining out.
• Taking him swimming.
• Engaging in gaming activities at home, especially Fortnite, Minecraft, and Teardown.
• Helping our son walk the dogs to foster positive bonding.

The hourly rate is £12.10. There is no expectation for personal care. Hours are 12 per week during term time and 14 during school holidays, mainly Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3pm to 7pm, with variations during holidays. Flexibility is possible, but Tuesday afternoons are essential. Weekend work may also be required.

Expenses for activities like swimming and food will be reimbursed. The position offers 5.6 weeks of paid holiday per year, with two weeks aligned with our holiday periods in late August.
