Personal Assistant for young boy, Norwich NR1 Weekend and occasional evening work @ £15ph - Norwich - NR1

Job Description: An opportunity has become available for a Personal Assistant. Listed below are details of the job and what tasks are involved. It is advisable to refer to these when submitting your application and advise of the days/hours you are available.

Job Purpose: This role requires support with various aspects of social care for an autistic, non-verbal 6-year-old boy.

Details:

- Support during outings (short trips to the park or local walks if suitable)

- Supervising and engaging in activities at home (sensory play, games, leisure activities)

- Assisting with personal care, including changing nappies, dressing, and hygiene needs

- Preparing and assisting with meals/snacks and feeding

- Promoting independence and encouraging communication through play

- Ensuring safety and wellbeing at all times

- Providing respite support for the family

The young boy has additional complex needs, and enjoys sensory activities, outdoor walks, one-to-one attention, and benefits from a calm and patient approach. He prefers quiet environments and may find crowded or noisy places overwhelming.

Personal Specification:

- Previous experience working with children or young people with additional/complex needs

- Ability to assist with personal care needs (dressing, changing, feeding)

- Patience, reliability, and good communication skills

- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

- Punctuality and commitment

- Reliable

- Experience supporting children with autism and/or complex needs

- An interest in sensory play and child-led activities

- Flexibility, creativity, and a nurturing attitude

Summary Terms and Conditions

- The rate of pay for this position is £15ph

- Hours and times of work as follows: Contracted 4 hours per week. Prefer to use hours flexibly: 8 to 10 hours every two weeks rather than weekly. Ideally weekends or occasional evenings, depending on current needs and agreements.

- The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

- Access to free flick training for employed workers.

- If this job requires; Manual Handling, Handling of hazardous chemicals and/or Food Handling you will be required undertake annual training.

- You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.

The post is subject to the following:

- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.

- Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.

- Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 6 months.
