Job Purpose:
We are looking for a kind, patient and respectful Personal Assistant to support a friendly gentleman living with a brain injury. This role involves assisting with morning routines and encouraging and motivating him to access the community.
His brain injury mainly affects short-term memory, mental fatigue and organisational skills. This can make everyday tasks tiring and sometimes frustrating. He benefits greatly from structured support and encouragement to stay active and socially connected, which helps prevent isolation and improves wellbeing.
If you think you’d be a good fit and would enjoy making a meaningful difference in someone’s life, we’d love to hear from you.
This position is initially offered for 5 hours per week. From September, the role will expand to 25 hours per week to provide maternity cover.

Details:
  • Assisting with morning routines, including getting up and choosing clothes
  • Providing gentle motivation and structure to start the day
  • Supporting and encouraging outdoor activity, such as walks into town or around the local green
  • Accompanying and motivating attendance at community and social groups (e.g. brain injury support groups, arts and crafts, music or dance sessions)
  • Preparing a light lunch (e.g. sandwich and a cup of tea)
Person specification:
Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential and desirable for the post. My assessment of these, both on application and at interview, will be the main factor in determining if you are successful. Please refer to these when submitting your application.

  • Trustworthy, resilient and respectful (not patronising)
  • Sense of humour

Summary terms and conditions:

- We can initially offer this role for 5 hours a week, flexible.
- From September, the role will expand to 25 hours a week, to provide maternity cover. This will be 5 hours each morning from Monday to Friday.
