Job Purpose I am a lively 13 year girl with complex needs who is non-verbal and epileptic. I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support myself and my family. When I am out in the community, I use a wheelchair to keep me safe because I have no safety awareness.
I love spending time outside in our garden, playing on the trampoline and swing. Although I don’t sit still for long, I like playing with Lego, looking at books and playing on my tablet. I also like going out for walks. Initially you will support me at home until we have built up trust and confidence for you to take me out.
To support me with my Epilepsy you will be required to undertake Epilepsy training and training on the administration of Buccolam (epilepsy emergency medication) before you commence work. We will organise this training.

Personal Specification: Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential and desirable for the post. Assessment of these, both on application and at the interview, will be the main factor in determining your success.
Essential:
- Previous experience with children with additional needs especially those who are non-verbal.
- Friendly, caring and fun.
- Reliable and vigilant
- Transport to travel to our village location.
Desirable:
- Previous epilepsy experience
- Previous experience of administering medication.
Summary Terms and Conditions
- The rate of pay for this position is £12.50 per hour.
- Hours and times of work as follows: 4 hours per week split over two days, probably either Monday and Thursday or Saturday and Monday (days and times to be discussed at interview). There may be more flexibility on the days and hours per week during the school holidays.
- The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
- Access to free FLICK training for employed workers.
- If this job requires; Manual Handling, Handling of hazardous chemicals and/or Food Handling you will be required undertake annual training.
The post is subject to the following:
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
- Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
- Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 6 months.
