Reference: fc780d80 This person has an allocation of 28 days of respite care per annum.
This care is required on a very occasional, ad-hoc basis rather than a fixed schedule, as our needs vary throughout the year.
We currently have a PA but are looking for a PA to work alongside them.
Support needed to support siblings: Daytime Independence & Medication: Both girls are able to do things fairly independently at home.
They do not require constant hands-on care for daily tasks, but they strictly need the presence of support nearby in the event of an episode.
They also require medication support
Night Monitoring: The PA will need to be present and check on person during the night.
She wears a monitor that will alert the PA to a seizure.
Seizures: Her seizures typically last around 3 minutes, and she usually has 2 to 3 per night.
She generally recovers quickly and goes back to sleep, but she does try to go to the bathroom afterward and requires guidance so she doesn't fall.
Emergency Cover (The Second PA): Supported person's sister, has much more complex seizures that can require paramedics and a trip to the hospital.
We strictly require two PAs on overnight duty because if she has an emergency, one PA must accompany her in the ambulance, while the second PA remains at home to monitor sister.
Since the schedule isn’t known in advance, we are looking to build a small pool of reliable cover for these ad-hoc dates.
