Are you a social, active and caring person who likes to learn new skills?Then this could be the role for youThis position is to provide support for a male in his twenties who has a traumatic brain injury TBI. A sociable individual who enjoys keeping fit, technology and appreciates a good sense of humor.Requiring the use of a wheelchair-walker (rollator) alongside support to enable him to carry out everyday tasks and to also increase his own independence whilst encouraging his ongoing rehabilitation.Please see responsibilities for a list of various activities, which require assistance within his routine, full training provided.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning- maintaining a clean and tidy environment, light cleaning duties, laundry and so on.
- Companionship, effective communication, social skills, and good listening skills.
- Assist in daily planning and time management to support daily routine.
- Preparation of meals, lunch, snacks & shakes.
- Personal care, no hands-on care required, support with shaving and supervision.
- Assistance with computers, typing, and other forms of technology.
- General supervision to ensure safety and reduce risk of falls.
- Support to attend appointments such as dentists, medical appointments, hairdressers & leisure activities, shopping, social outings etc.
- Assistance to attend social and support groups such as brain injury matters etc.
- Attending swimming pool and water-based activities, - able to swim and comfortable in the water. (desirable but not essential)
- Completing home exercise programs, gym programs and specialist anti-gravity treadmill sessions.
- Supporting specialist physical therapy sessions, and hydrotherapy sessions alongside professionals.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must hold a driving licence & be comfortable driving a wheelchair-accessible van and be comfortable driving. Appointments are held in Coleraine, Ballymena, and Belfast.
- Reliable, Punctual, Good Communication Skills and respect for Confidentiality.
- A willingness to learn and complete training.
- Experience within brain injury, complex needs, caring sector, support worker, personal assistant, rehabilitation assistant, personal trainer or similar role/transferable skills will be considered.
- A full driving licence is essential as PA will be required to drive an accessible wheelchair van
- Awareness of brain injury or disability.
- An interest in keeping active, attending gym, pilates or other physical hobbies interests.
- Comfortable in the water and able to swim, to support swimming-based sessions and groups.

Location: Ballymoney.AcessNI check required - completed by the employer.Part Time role.Tuesday & Friday 8.30am or 9.30am - 4pm required 13/15 hours - additional hours available.Occasional Saturday shift 5 hours or evening 7pm till 9.30pm any week day and holiday cover.
