A lady in Birstall seeks a Personal Assistant for personal care and support. The role involves assisting with daily tasks, medication, and fostering a trusting relationship. Candidates should be patient and proactive, with strong communication skills.

A lady in the Birstall area requires support with personal care.
Role Requirements
A Personal Assistant is requiredMonday - Sunday: 45 min AM call 8:30am - 9:15am. Saturday and Sunday to also include a 30 minute tea call.
You will be required to provide support the client with:
AM call (Monday to Sunday)
Tea call (Saturday and Sunday)
The client used to enjoy knitting, but since suffering with arthritis in her hands and wrists she is no longer able to complete this task herself. She will sometimes watch the TV and enjoys watching the morning and evening news.
The client would like to gain a positive and trusting relationship with a Personal Assistant who understands her needs aroundcommunication.
The client has a lovely garden and once a trusting relationship with a Personal Assistant is established, she would like to sit in the garden with a cup of tea.
Other information
The client has Anxiety and Depression, Epilepsy (well controlled by medication), Neurofibromatosis (type 2), Right facial nerve palsy, TIA (May 2023), Deaf (client can lip read), Right sided weakness, Arthritis in hands and wrists. Due to difficulties swallowing, the client is on a mashed/pureed diet.
Communication:
The client will require the Personal Assistant to sit directly opposite or fully turned in order to allow the client to lip read. The Personal Assistant will need to speak clearly and slowly to allow time to process the information. With trickier words, the client will benefit from the Personal Assistant writing things down in her notebook and she will then respond accordingly.
The client struggles to lip read with individuals with a strong accent and has reported in the past that she doesn't feel fully understood in these circumstances which negatively impacts on her confidence levels.
The client struggles to answer in full sentences, but can verbalise well using a few words.
It is important that the Personal Assistant remains calm and patient with the client, to allow enough time to confidently converse.
Moving and handling:
The client requires the use of a kitchen trolley to mobilise around the home downstairs. Due to frailty and right sided weakness, the client is at risk of falls and always has a Lifeline in place.
There is a walking frame upstairs and various grab rails installed around the home and a stair lift.
Client can weight bear and can independently pull herself to standing, but will require assistance from the Personal Assistant with this task, as and when needed.
