Location:

Tamworth, Staffs B77

Rate of Pay:

£12.00 per hour

Nature of the job role:

Working individually or as part of a team of 2 Personal Assistants, over 18 hours per week, supporting the employer with personal and social daily care to promote independent living. Preference for female PAs due to the personal nature of the role.

Main Duties:
  • Washing, dressing, preparing food and drinks, and handling general welfare issues.
Personal Duties:
  • Attending to the employer’s daily needs, including washing, dressing, toilet arrangements (commode emptying), and overseeing medication and ad hoc needs.
  • Providing companionship to the employer.
  • Being comfortable around four small toy dogs (Jack Russell type); note that PAs are not responsible for pet care.
Domestic Duties:
  • Light housekeeping and cleaning of the living environment to a reasonable standard.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.
Social Duties:
  • Occasionally taking the employer out using a wheelchair, including trips to doctors, hospitals, shopping, and leisure activities.
  • Transport may be public or private; employer will cover outing costs.
  • Employer can walk short distances and assist with vehicle boarding.
Hours of Work:

Approximately 18 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. Coverage for annual leave will be arranged in advance to ensure all lawful leave entitlements are met.

Qualifications:

Female applicants preferred, fit and active, ideally residing in Tamworth. A current driver’s license and own transport are advantageous but not essential. Flexibility in handling the issues faced by a disabled person is required.

Skills & Experience:

Previous experience with adults and manual handling is advantageous but not mandatory.

Additional Notes:

The employer has two advocates available for consultation. The employer is capable of making her own decisions and is of sound mind.
